Career Day Speakers Needed!

Would you like to share and promote your profession to our 5th and 6th graders at Holomua?  If you said yes, then Career Day is the perfect day to share for you!  You can help educate our students about the vast array of careers available.  We would love your participation and would appreciate your time.

Career Day consists of groups of students rotating to various speakers to get a range of options for their future.  We will rotate the groups (consist of 15-20 students) within a two-hour block and each session will be around 20 minutes.  We know your work time is valuable and would appreciate any time you can provide us.

Our career days will be on:
February 2, 2016 (Tuesday) from 9:30AM –noon (Blue/Yellow Track)
March 2, 2016 (Wednesday)  from 9:30 AM - noon (Red/Green Track)

The counseling department has been coordinating the annual Career Day for the past few years and we are always looking for volunteers to share about their career.  If you or someone you know would like to be a speaker, please send this form back to the counseling department.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call Shari Reilly at 685-9100 x310 or email at shari_reilly@notes.k12.hi.us.

Managing Homework Time . . .

It was another super successful workshop titled “Managing Homework Time” with Dr. Dale Fryxell, Holomua’s Psychologist and Consultant. Dr. Fryxell spoke regarding a child’s homework routine and how to manage their time more wisely. He had some really good input on the length of time a child takes to complete their work, as well as choosing adequate areas around the home with fewer distractions. Our parents always have a wealth of information when attending any of our workshops.

Dr. Fryxell, Holomua Elementary School PSAP consultant talks to the parents about different strategies they could use during homework time to help their child.Parents were able to ask questions regarding the difficulties they’ve encountered while trying to get their children to do their homework. There were some great questions and responses by both Dr. Fryxell and the parents, while networking
with each other.

Holomua JPOs go to Aiea Bowl!

Do you know what the Holomua’s JPOs did on November 19, 2015? That’s right! We went bowling at Aiea Bowl. Our JPOs had so much fun bowling and spending time together.

The field trip was just one of the incentives that our JPOs enjoy throughout the year for all of their hard work with keeping our school and children safe.
